Neverness to Everness gives players access to multiple free characters without spending any gacha currency. These characters include both S-class and A-class rarities, giving new players a solid foundation for building teams from day one. Understanding which free characters you can obtain and how to unlock them helps you plan your early game progression and decide which gacha banners to prioritize based on the characters you already have.

In addition to these guaranteed free characters, players also receive a one-time selector after completing 50 rolls on the Standard Board. This selector lets you choose any available S-class character from the standard pool, essentially giving you a second free S-class character of your choice.
Zero (Main Character)

Zero is your main character in Neverness to Everness and unlocks automatically when you start the game. You can choose between male or female versions of Zero during character creation, and both versions share the same abilities and stats.
Getting Zero requires nothing except starting the game. He appears automatically as your main character and stays with you throughout the entire story. You don't need to complete any quests or reach any milestones to unlock Zero.
Chiz

Chiz is a free S-class Cosmos character. She functions as an on-field main DPS with unique mechanics tied to the in-game currency called Fons. Her basic attacks build a resource called Grain, shown by a bar at the bottom of the screen with a mouse symbol. The more Grain Chiz has, the more damage she deals. Her skill has three charges that can be used rapidly in succession, and each skill use deals more damage based on your current Grain level.
To unlock Chiz, you need to progress through the City Tycoon gameplay mechanics. City Tycoon is a side activity. As you advance through the game, you eventually unlock Chiz for free.
Aurelia

Aurelia is a free A-class character obtained through a simple login event. The game runs a 14-day login reward event where you receive prizes just for logging in on separate days. Aurelia is one of these login rewards, making her one of the easiest free characters to obtain.
Haniel

Haniel is a free A-class Psyche character who functions as a buffer and support. She provides attack buffs to your team through her skill and ultimate, making her valuable for boosting damage output. Haniel is unlocked automatically by claiming global pre-registration milestone rewards. To claim Haniel, simply check your inbox. Haniel should be waiting there automatically since the global milestones were already completed before launch.
Mint

Mint is a free A-class Anima character and works as the main DPS. She is obtained through story progression, meaning you unlock her naturally as you play through the main storyline quests. Mint is the poster character for Neverness to Everness and appears prominently in promotional materials.
Adler

Adler is a free A-class Incantation character who functions as a shielder and support. Adler is also obtained through story progression, unlocking naturally as you complete main storyline quests.
Standard Board Selector (one-time S-class choice)

In addition to the six guaranteed free characters above, you also receive a one-time selector after completing 50 rolls on the Standard Board. The Standard Board features six S-class characters: Sakiri, Daffodil, Baicang, Jiuyuan, Fadia, and Hathor. After you complete 50 rolls total, you can choose any one of these characters to add to your roster.
The first 50 pulls on the Standard Board receive a 20% discount, meaning 10-pull multis only cost 8 Fabricated Dice instead of 10. This discount reduces the actual cost to 40 pulls instead of 50. Combined with pre-registration rewards and login bonuses, you can reach the selector very quickly.
Save your selector until after you pull your first S-class character naturally. If you pull Daffodil at 75 pulls, use your selector on a different character like Sakiri to avoid duplicates. This maximizes character diversity and gives you more team-building options.
The selector is permanent and doesn't expire. You can wait weeks or even months before using it if you want to see which characters you naturally pull first. Most players recommend prioritizing Daffodil or Sakiri with the selector since they fill unique roles that no other characters can replicate at launch. Between the six guaranteed free characters and the selector allowing you to choose a seventh character, Neverness to Everness gives every player a strong starting roster without requiring any spending. Focus on unlocking all the free characters first, then use your gacha currency on limited banners for characters like Nanally and Hotori.
