Neverness to Everness uses a unique dice board gacha system called Scarborough Fair that replaces traditional pull mechanics with a board game-style experience. Instead of standard pulls, players roll dice to move across a board filled with various reward tiles, including characters, weapons, skins, and resources. Understanding how the dice board works, what each tile offers, and how pity mechanics function is essential for maximizing your pulls and planning character acquisition.
How the Dice Board Gacha System Works in NTE?
The Neverness to Everness gacha system is called Scarborough Fair, divided into Limited Boards for featured characters and the Standard Board for permanent characters. Every pull uses dice instead of traditional currency, with each dice roll moving your game piece (called a Chuppa) between one and six tiles forward on the board. Whatever tile you land on becomes your reward, which can include S-class characters, A-class characters, weapons (Arcs), cosmetic skins, currency, or bonus dice rolls.
The board game presentation makes the gacha feel more interactive than traditional systems. You watch your piece move across the board with each roll, landing on different tiles that determine your rewards. While this doesn't actually give players control over outcomes since tile placement is randomly generated based on drop rates, the visual presentation creates a more engaging experience than watching standard pull animations.
Two types of dice exist in the game. Fabricated Dice are used for the Standard Board, while Solid Dice are used for Limited Boards. Both dice types work identically in terms of board movement. Each dice costs 160 Annulith, which is the premium currency in Neverness to Everness. A 10-pull costs 1,600 Annulith regardless of banner type.

NTE Limited Banner/Board Mechanics and Rates
Limited Boards feature rate-up characters with a 100% guarantee that any S-class character you pull will be the featured character. There is no 50/50 system where you can lose to off-banner characters. This makes Neverness to Everness significantly more generous than games like Genshin Impact or Honkai Star Rail.
Limited Board base rates:
- S-class character: 1.87% base rate
- A-class character or Arc: 22.98% base rate (11.67% characters, 11.31% Arcs)
The pity system guarantees an S-class character at 90 pulls maximum. However, at 70 pulls without obtaining an S-class character, the Board Modification mechanic triggers. This immediately increases the S-class drop rate to 19.59%, a massive jump from the base 1.87% rate. Unlike soft pity systems that gradually increase rates with each pull, Board Modification applies the full rate increase at once when you hit 70 pulls.
Board Modification also transforms certain tiles on the board into S-class character tiles, meaning you can land directly on tiles that guarantee the featured character. This means most players will obtain the featured S-class character somewhere between pull 70 and 90 rather than needing the full 90 pulls. The pity counter carries over between Limited Boards, so progress is never wasted.
Every 10 pulls guarantees one bonus A-class item (either a character or Arc) in addition to the 10 rewards from your dice rolls.

Limited Board tiles and rewards
The Limited Board contains various tile types that offer different rewards:
- Apprentice Chest (purple): The most common tile type with a 0.2% chance to drop the S-class featured character. Most of the time, this tile gives a B-class Arc.
- Hero Chest (gold): Rarer than Apprentice Chests with a 3% chance to drop the S-class featured character. Also awards 2 Warp Pieces as a bonus reward. Has a 97% chance to give a B-class Arc if you don't get the S-class character.
- Journey Together: Tiles showing a character portrait. Landing on these tiles guarantees you receive that specific character. These tiles become more common after Board Modification triggers at 70 pulls.
- Arc Light Mystery Box: Gives a random A-class Arc from the current banner pool.
- Warp Pieces / Lost Pieces tiles: Directly award currency used in the shop. Some tiles give up to 50 Warp Pieces.
- Roll Again: Gives one free dice roll immediately/ Fabricated dice rolls
- Slumberland (Guardian encounter): Spawns a Guardian spirit 9 tiles ahead. You have 3 dice rolls to catch or pass it, but the Guardian moves 2 additional tiles forward after each of your rolls. Successfully catching it awards 30 Warp Pieces (equivalent to one free 10-pull worth of value).
- Card tiles (A or S): Guarantees an A-class or S-class item from the banner. S-class card tiles guarantee the featured character.
The Secret Fair is a special golden section of the board accessible through specific entry tiles. This bonus area has fewer total tiles but higher-quality rewards, including the Multiple Surprises tile (5 free dice), limited character outfit tiles, vehicle skin tiles, and S-class character tiles. Think of it as the bonus round of the gacha system.

Does Pity Carry Over in Neverness to Everness?
Understanding which pity counters carry over and which reset is crucial for planning your pulls across multiple banners. Neverness to Everness has different rules for character pity, weapon pity, and cosmetic milestones.
| Pity Type | Does It Carry Over? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Limited Board Character Pity | ✅ Yes | Carries over between all Limited Boards. If you do 70 pulls on Nanally's banner without getting an S-class, your next Limited Board starts at 70/90 pity with Board Modification already active. |
| Standard Board Character Pity | ✅ Yes | Permanent pity counter that never resets. All pulls on Standard Board count toward the same 90-pull guarantee regardless of when you pull. |
| Arc Research Program Pity | ✅ Yes | Weapon banner pity carries over between all Arc Research Program rotations. Progress toward the 6-multi S-class guarantee and 8-multi featured guarantee is never lost. |
| Limited Board Cosmetic Milestones | ❌ No (with exception) | Cosmetic milestone counters (50/120/200 pulls) do NOT carry over between different Limited Boards. However, the counter IS retained when that specific banner reruns in the future. |
| Standard Board Beginner Discount | ❌ No | The 20% discount on first five 10-pulls is a one-time bonus that expires after 50 pulls total on Standard Board. |
| Standard Board Beginner Bonus | ✅ Permanent | The free S-class character selection after 50 pulls never expires and can be claimed any time, even months after reaching 50 pulls. |
Important examples:
- Scenario 1: You do 80 pulls on "The Ichi-daime" Limited Board (Nanally) and get the featured S-class at pull 80. Your pity resets to 0/90 for the next Limited Board.
- Scenario 2: You do 65 pulls on "The Ichi-daime" Limited Board without getting an S-class character. When "Misty Tipsy Style" Limited Board (Hotori) starts, you begin at 65/90 pity. You only need 5 more pulls to trigger Board Modification at 70 pulls.
- Scenario 3: You do 150 pulls on "The Ichi-daime" Limited Board trying to get Nanally's 200-pull cosmetic but don't reach it. When this banner ends, your cosmetic progress does NOT transfer to the next Limited Board. However, when "The Ichi-daime" reruns in the future, you start at 150/200 for that specific cosmetic.
- Scenario 4: You do 40 pulls on Arc Research Program during Nanally's banner without getting an S-class Arc. During Hotori's banner, you continue at 40/60 pulls toward the S-class Arc guarantee.
This pity carryover system is extremely generous compared to most gacha games. You never lose character pity progress, meaning every pull counts toward your eventual guarantee regardless of which Limited Board is active. The only exception is cosmetic milestones, which are banner-specific and don't transfer between different character banners.
Cosmetic Milestone System
Each Limited Board features three exclusive outfit cosmetics obtainable at specific pull milestones: 50 pulls, 120 pulls, and 200 pulls. These outfits can also drop early from specific board tiles with low probability (0.33% base rate, 0.68% with pity active).
The cosmetic milestone counter is separate from character pity and does NOT carry over between different Limited Boards. However, it IS retained for that specific banner when it reruns. For example, if you do 199 pulls on "The Ichi-daime" banner featuring Nanally but don't get the 200-pull skin, when that banner returns in the future, you only need 1 more pull to claim the skin.
This is where Neverness to Everness monetization focuses. Characters are relatively easy to obtain with guaranteed pity and no 50/50, but players who want limited cosmetics may need to commit to 200 pulls per banner or get extremely lucky with early drops. Since cosmetics are purely optional and don't affect gameplay, free-to-play players can ignore this system entirely and focus only on character acquisition.

NTE Standard Board/Banner Mechanics
The Standard Board uses Fabricated Dice instead of Solid Dice but follows the same rates and pity mechanics as Limited Boards. The key differences are the available characters and the beginner bonuses.
- Beginner discount: Your first 50 pulls receive a discount where 10-pulls cost only 8 Fabricated Dice instead of 10. This discount only applies to multi-pulls, not single rolls. After 50 total pulls on Standard Board, you unlock the Beginner Bonus.
- Beginner Bonus: After 50 pulls, you can select one S-class character from the six starter options: Sakiri, Daffodil, Baicang, Jiuyuan, Fadia, or Hathor. This selection doesn't expire and can be claimed any time, meaning you can wait until you're missing only one of the six to complete your collection if desired.
The Standard Board contains the same tile types as Limited Boards but features different characters. You can obtain S-class characters from the permanent pool rather than limited-time exclusives. Pity works identically with Board Modification at 70 pulls and guaranteed S-class at 90 pulls.

The Arc Research Program is the weapon banner for Neverness to Everness. This banner uses Tri-Keys as currency and only allows 10-pulls (no single rolls). One multi costs 10 Tri-Keys, which equals 1,600 Annulith if purchasing directly.
Arc Research Program rates:
- S-class Arc: 3% base rate (4.19% with pity)
- A-class Arc: 7% base rate (13.47% with pity)
- B-class Arc: 90% base rate (82.34% with pity)
When you obtain an S-class Arc, it has a 25% chance of being the featured Arc that matches the current Limited Board character. The pity system guarantees an S-class Arc within 6 multis (60 pulls) and guarantees the featured S-class Arc within 8 multis (80 pulls).
This means you need 12,800 Annulith to guarantee the featured weapon, significantly cheaper than many other gacha games. The weapon banner pity carries over between different Arc Research Program rotations, so progress is never lost. Most players will obtain Tri-Keys through free sources like events, shop exchanges, and level-up rewards rather than direct purchase.

Warp Pieces and Lost Pieces Currency
Pulling duplicate characters or Arcs converts them into special currencies used in the shop:
Warp Pieces:
- S-class character duplicate: 40 Warp Pieces (2nd through 7th copy), 80 Warp Pieces (8th copy onward)
- A-class character duplicate: 6 Warp Pieces (2nd through 7th copy), 12 Warp Pieces (8th copy onward)
- A-class Arc: 4 Warp Pieces per duplicate
Lost Pieces:
- B-class Arc: 20 Lost Pieces per duplicate

These currencies can be exchanged in the Mall for various items including dice, Tri-Keys, stamina refills, and even character copies. The most important monthly purchases are the free pulls available through Lost Pieces: 5 Solid Dice, 5 Fabricated Dice, and 20 Tri-Keys cost 2,100 total Lost Pieces per month. This is the gacha equivalent of monthly cards in other games and should be prioritized.
The Neverness to Everness gacha system stands out as one of the most player-friendly in the genre. The elimination of 50/50 mechanics, guaranteed featured characters, generous pity system with Board Modification at 70 pulls, and pity carryover between banners create an environment where free-to-play players can realistically obtain multiple S-class characters without spending money. The dice board presentation adds an interactive element that makes pulling feel more engaging than traditional gacha animations. While limited cosmetics require significant investment at 200 pulls per banner, these are purely optional, allowing players to focus resources entirely on character acquisition.
